FanX 2019 Spring Event Wrap Up

Good to see all you vigilantes again. As many of you know, we went to FanX Spring Event. We had a blast. I personally got to take so many pictures. (Cosplay RULES!!!)

For those of you that don’t know FanX is Salt Lake Cities own Comic and pop culture convention. It is full of vendors, fans, big names, creators, and kids. Our booth was positioned next to Artist Alley.

Our booth quickly became known as the “dice game” due to all the giveaways. Cost nothing and simple rules; roll 2 dice. If you get a 6, 7, or 8 then you get a signed print from one of our resident creators Gypsy Leif. Her work is amazing.

In fact, if you have not updated your profile image then the default is one of the prints that we were giving away titled “Space in the Face” or “Space Cadet” for short. She is the creator of the children’s comics Frantic Froggy, and Adventures of Snell the Snail. She is such a wonderful lady and funny.

I got to take my oldest daughter for her first real convention. She had gone with me before to the Pocatello Idaho FandomCon but let's just say, it didn’t prepare her for the size or scope of this event.

Everyone at Crypto Comics had more fun than should be legal! We rubbed shoulders with some of the upper echelon and met with some good old, down-to-earth creators.

Not to toot my own horn but when I was explaining the system and marketplace to someone that wanted to break into comics but didn’t know how he turned to me and said: “I think I just found my future”.

Holy crap, what do you say to that? Here was this kid (well, he was in his late 20’s) and he was signing up for our system and decided to put his future into our hands. Talk about humbling. A lot to live up to.

This is why we do it. There are so many people that have this burning desire to get into comics and can’t. Now we give them a home.

So, Saturday night we packed up. It was a long drive back to Idaho Falls. Jared drove back with my daughter and me. We reflected and laughed about our adventures along the way and how far we have come since our first meeting at a friend’s house.

We got home, recovered, and took some time to play with our families. It was Easter Sunday after all. Now we are back with our noses in the grindstone and are listening to the creators that have signed up for our closed beta test.

Like I have always been saying, we are all about the creator and the fans. You are why we do what we do, and what we do is beautiful!
