Did you know you can borrow comics in the Marketplace?
Here is a quick video on how to get started borrowing books:
Hundreds of original stories and evocative art books are available for free in the Marketplace. Creators have the options to set their comics, graphic novels, novels, and art books as available as part of borrowing system. Readers will be able to borrow the book for a period of time set by the creator or publisher.
Why a borrowing system?
The Comic Book Shop Experience
When building the CryptoComics Marketplace, we wanted to simulate the feel of a real comic book shop for readers. That is why we've included social features and discussion threads for each book. We also wanted readers to have the ability to "page through" the comic before they choose to purchase.
Connecting Creators and Fans
We know how important it is for creators to connect with fans and build a following. Creators can allow readers to access their comics by borrowing them. This can help readers fall in love with a new series by reading the first comic for free. Or build up a creator's brand and connection with readers, who will hopefully support creators by connecting with them, supporting their campaigns or Patreons, and buying the books they've come to love.
Who Decides What Books can be Borrowed?
Creators or publishers have complete control over what books they put in the borrowing system, and how long readers can borrow a book. Some are set as a preview for only 5 minutes, while other books have unlimited reading time.
How does the borrowing system work?
To find the books available for free, look for the Read for Free section in the Marketplace. Or, go directly to the Borrowable Book Listto see the hundreds of books that are available to borrow. More are added every week! The video at the top of this article gives you a quick look at how to get started borrowing books.
What happens when my borrowing time expires?
The borrowing timer begins when you select Read Now for the book you've chosen to borrow. It will keep running even after you click away from the book or log off. Once your time expires, you will need to purchase the book to continue reading or to read again.
