If you’re into indie comics, Antarctic Press (Check out his profile here) should definitely be on your radar. These guys have been doing their thing since 1984, all thanks to Ben Dunn, who had this cool idea to mix American and Japanese comic styles before anyone else was doing it. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, they’ve become a big deal in the comic world by offering something different—creator-owned comics that are a mashup of genres, styles, and pure creative energy.
Whether you’re into sci-fi, fantasy, action, or just want a good laugh, Antarctic Press has got something for you. They’re all about giving creators the freedom to tell their stories, which means the comics they put out are always fresh and unique.
This is the OG Antarctic Press comic that put them on the map. Ninja High School, created by Ben Dunn, is a wild ride of action, romance, and fantasy. Imagine being a regular high school kid and suddenly getting caught up in a love triangle with a ninja and an alien princess—yeah, that’s Jeremy Feeple’s life. It’s been running since 1987, so if you haven’t checked it out, you’re seriously missing out.
Ninja High School (also known as NHS) is a comic book series created, written, and illustrated by Ben Dunn, and published by Antarctic Press NHS takes place in a town called Quagmire USA, located somewhere in the middle of nowhere. It introduces the misadventures of Jeremy Feeple, a 16-year-old boy attending Quagmire High School; an alien princess named Asrial from a planet called Salusia; and a young female ninja named Ichi-kun Ichihonei, from Japan.
Fred Perry’s Gold Digger is another must-read. It’s about Gina Diggers, a treasure-hunting archaeologist, and her were-cheetah sister, Brittany. This comic has everything: action, humor, and some of the best world-building you’ll ever see. It’s been going strong since 1992, and once you start, you’ll see why.

Planet Comics is Antarctic Press’s homage to the golden age of sci-fi. This series revives the classic Planet Comics title with a modern twist. Expect over-the-top space adventures, with everything from alien invasions to intergalactic wars. It’s packed with that retro-futuristic vibe that makes it feel like a love letter to old-school pulp sci-fi, but with the polish of modern comics.
Planet Comics #2 dives into the mystery of Amazona the Mighty Woman, revealing the untold story after 80 years. This issue uncovers her fate and brings back the classic sci-fi adventure with a modern twist.
