Welcome, my CryptoComics Compatriots. Holy Bat-Star, you all know how much I love DC and Batman. Well, now it seems the rest of the world (or at least Hollywood) officially agrees with me. I’m really hoping Frey reads this article and laughs because “I’m right, you’re wrong.”  Sorry, call back to when he and I had to travel to Mile High Comics to answer the age old question “Marvel or DC.”

Batman, the Dark Knight himself, is the latest fictional character to be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For decades, Gotham's caped crusader has captured the imaginations of comic book fans, moviegoers, and television audiences alike. Now, this iconic superhero will join the ranks of other legendary characters with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, forever cementing his place in entertainment history.

What It Takes to Earn a Star

Earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is no easy feat. The selection process is a mix of professional achievement, community contributions, and the ability to draw public interest. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of recognized work in their field, showcase a strong connection to their community through contributions or service, and, most importantly, agree to appear in person at the star dedication ceremony.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, reviews all nominations. Submissions are made online and require a $250 application fee. Annually, about 24-30 stars are chosen for installation, making it a highly selective honor.

How Fictional Characters Get Their Stars

Fictional characters can also earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but the criteria differ slightly. They are often celebrated for their cultural significance and impact on the entertainment industry, frequently representing a major corporate entity or brand. These characters are typically nominated in the "Special Recognition Category," and their stars serve as a tribute to the timelessness and influence of their stories.

Batman, created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, fits the bill perfectly. As one of the most popular comic book heroes of all time, Batman has appeared in countless television series, blockbuster films, and animated features, making him a perfect candidate for this honor. His star is set to be located on Hollywood Boulevard, joining a prestigious list of other fictional characters.

Personally, I’ve always been more drawn to Nightwing than Batman. When Dick Grayson was Robin, I was a kid myself, and his journey felt like it paralleled mine in a lot of ways. As I was growing up and finding my own way in the world, Dick was stepping out of Batman’s shadow and becoming Nightwing, a hero in his own right. His evolution from sidekick to independent leader resonated with me—it felt like we were both figuring out how to navigate adulthood, responsibility, and self-identity at the same time.
