As a teenager, I created “The World of Hek” as a comic book series in the late 1980s and sold it at local comic book stores. The series focused on the demon, Hek, who grants wishes with an evil twist. Unfortunately, I had no guidance to take it to the next level and pursued other avenues after high school, pretty much leaving comic book writing and art behind. While working retail for a living, one of my focuses was simply writing. My first project was a screenplay and comic book titled “Gripes”. “Gripes” was about a comic book author battling depression after changing his main character to match what he thought society wanted to see. After that I wrote my first novel, Christlike, about a man who may be the Second Coming of Christ, and sets about fixing up a city plagued by drugs and death while battling a hellish demon. My next novel, The World of Hek, Book One: Forever, told the story of a man in the 1700s who is gunned down and left for dead. He wishes to live and finds himself immortal, thanks to the demon, Hek. Other books of mine include the comedy, The Curse of the Translucent Monster, The World of Hek, Book Two: Savior (same as Christlike, but rewritten as a Hek story), The World of Hek: Tales of Love & Revenge, and A Christmas Burglary.
I am now older, wiser, a father and husband, and a teacher. As a am getting closer to fifty years of age, I have a need to get back to comics. Hence, “The World of Hek: First Wish”.
