CouchCon Wrap Up

Welcome, my CryptoComic Compatriots! We just finished up with the CouchCon On Ice 2020 edition. We had a blast, we laughed, we cried, we had the time of our lives.

What is CouchCon?

CouchCon is quite simply the only real online convention this year. Yes, there have been many online conventions such as the At Home Con that we talked about in April. CouchCon has actually been going on for several years. Yep, before Covid ever hit, David Lillie has started his own online comic convention and it has been going strong since.

The good people of Vivid Publishing have taken on the enormous responsibility of bringing everything that you actually like with a convention and apply it to the digital age. They actually have an artist alley, the panels are live and interactive (unlike certain unnamed conventions from San Diego), they have the cosplayers. They have it all...everything except the smell. They even had a Convention floor where you could meet and chat with all of the other attendees. How cool is that!?!

Last week before the event, we got together with some of the Vivid Team to create this How To Attend CouchCon video.

We got the chance to precipitate in so many different panels with various creators. We started out with a great panel about how Comic Bring Us All Together. We talked with creators from Africa, Australia, and the USA. It was so great to get inside everyones heads.

We followed that up with the great Cosplay panel “Why We Cosplay”. This was so fun. We even fit in some time to talk about some unwritten rules, hint: it has to deal with Axe spray. Check it out for some amazing Cosplay fun.

I absolutely loved our next panel The New Comic Experience. We chatted about how comics are changing and how to add multimedia as well as the marketing changes in the recent years.

For the gamers out there, our very own BugMagnet (Jared) and Frey took place in a Call Of Duty Tournament and streamed their mad skills (or lack thereof) for all to see. Check out these noobs below.  Note: We charge $20 every time you laugh at them.

Next we had a truly amazing panel. This one combined guest such as Dan Cote (Zen Intergalactic Ninja), Darren Davis (10th Muse) Jan Utstein (Marvel Studios), Jemma Young (Temerity), and Vivid Publishing’s own David Lillie. This was one for the record books as we discussed Comics through the Ages!

We had to finish strong so our last panel was a great one with as many guest as we could. We had more guest than a clown car. It was so fun. It just showed that Indie Comic Publishing is on the rise and everyone is in the game for the love of the industry. We couldn’t have asked for a better panel.

I ended up jumping on the tech side for a majority of this panel and I have to give a special shout out to Frey for all the work he does to keep these panels running smoothly. It turns out that it is a much tougher job than I realized. I gotta say, he makes it look so easy that anyone could do it, not true.

We had so many giveaways and prizes that our logistics coordinator; GypsyLeif, will be SUPER busy for the foreseeable future. She works so hard as is, and then we hit convention season! Good luck to her. I don't envy her job.

Personally my favorite memory was chatting with everyone. Right after our panels, we had an opportunity to just chill for a minute. Backstage, we all just started chatting about everything from missed opportunities to our dream projects. We just talked comic and had a blast.

Leave a comment with your own favorite memory from the CouchCon On Ice 2020! I can’t wait to find out yours. FYI, time is running out to check out all these comics for free. FREE PEOPLE!!! Free. Pick up comics from all of these amazing creators and leave reviews. You won't regret it.
